Ali Brown Confirmed

The fifth player for our game against The PCA Legends on the 24th July has been confirmed, and this is an explosive one. We are delighted to welcome Ali Brown to Poplar Meadow.

A blistering, astonishingly powerful batsman who was extremely unfortunate not to have played more international cricket. At the top of the order in one-day cricket, he could destroy attacks with shots all around the ground–his 268 against Glamorgan in 2002 was, and still is, the highest score in any limited-overs game anywhere in the world. Part of Surrey’s dynasty in the late 90s and early Noughties, he played 16 ODIs and is one of a select group to have made an ODI century for England, making 118 against India in 1996. He spent the last few years of his county career at Nottinghamshire, where he won the County Championship in 2010. After announcing his retirement at the end of the 2011 season, Brown went back to Surrey as the Second XI coach for 5 years and now works as the Cricket Professional at Trinity School, Croydon.

The game on the 24th July is the marquee event of our 225 year celebrations. For more information, contact us via socials, email hello@tonbridgecc.co.uk, or visit https://lnkd.in/eZqeKrMr
